OCALA HORSE PROPERTIES | WINTER/SPRING SEASON 2023 OCALAHORSEPROPERTIES.COM | 83 #1. Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club This 18-hole championship course was designed by Ron Garl. The replica holes are a tribute to Augusta National Golf Club, in Augusta, Georgia; Royal Troon Golf Club in Scotland; Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey; Muirfield Village Golf Club in Scotland; and St. Andrews Links in Scotland. It has played host to the LPGA Coates Golf Championship in 2015 and 2016. THE GOOD • 27 holes of championship play will keep you busy • The replica holes are not gimmicky at all, they are beautifully done and a ton of fun to play • Fantastic (I mean fantastic) practice facility • World-class and professional staff on-site. Ask for Ryan Gray (head pro) or CJ Kelly (teaching professional) for lessons. THE NOT-SO-GOOD • This course is HARD. Go figure, when you have replica holes from some of themost coveted courses in the world, they play difficult! • If you are a high handicap, just MOVE UP a tee box and don’t try to be a hero. Just try and enjoy yourself! • Not a public track (obviously). You will need to play with amember or join Golden Ocala, which I would also highly recommend. #2. Juliette Falls Designed by John Sanford, Juliette Falls opened in 2008 and immediately was recognized as a top course by Golf Digest. The rolling hills make this course a treat as you wind through pines, oaks, magnolias and waterfalls. Five sets of tees accommodate any level player and a 10-acre practice area will give you the space you need to up your game. THE GOOD • Always in very good shape. • Great scenery including water features and intricate bunkers. • Doesn’t feel like you are in Florida at all. • They offer yearly rates and reasonablemembership. THE NOT-SO-GOOD • The Par 3s are on somemonster yardages. From the back tees they are 239, 210, 189 and 208 yards! • With all the trouble on the course (including long par 3s), pace of play can be subject, depending on the day. In the end, be ready for 4 plus hours. #3. Baseline Golf Course: This course boasts spectacular waterfalls, plush greens, a no tee time option and 19 holes. Their island green signature hole is what they call “Lucky 13.” THE GOOD • Really well maintained walking course for these green fees! • Par 64 with twelve Par 3s on the coursemakes for a casual golf experience. THE NOT-SO-GOOD • It is a “target golf” course. If you want to get out the Driver and swing away, this is not the place. Candler Hills Golf Club Wide open fairways with some good elevation Ocala Preserve Plays in many ways, providing flexibility in terms of playability Stone Creek Many people around the county love it HONORABLE MENTIONS
